Valentine is commercialism at its best. Don't like it.

St Valentine's day was originally a catholic feast/observance I think. However some businessman found a way to make money off of it and it's become another overcomercialized holiday.

Well Christmas used to be a pagan Solstice, but The Catholics were in their taking over the world stage and stole their holiday... Each to their own I suppose.

P.S. Cadbury Cream Eggs are THE BOMB!!!!!

Don't just celebrate Valentine's day to spread love. Celebrate it out of fear.
This book interests me; where can I find it? According to Amazon, college = bullcrap, or at least it's the closest match.

It's just a commercial holiday. It's a nice excuse to eat chocolate though.

Also, Santa Claus supposed to be covered in green clothing. Then came Coca Cola... and they used red/black/white in their commercials. And now nobody remembers the green clothed santa.

He had to be born on one day of the year... Or at least we have to pick one day to celebrate it on. I know the feast of Saint Nicholas was on one day in december. Not sure how the 25th was decided on. I think it has to do with something about someone dying on the anniversery of the day he was concieved on.

BTW, the solstice is on the 22nd, not the 25th. I know the eastern orthodox church celebrates their version of Christmas in Janurary.

Its completely a made-up holiday just for commercial interests to make money. Maybe it started as a St. Valentines celebration or whatever, but now it has nothing to do with anything other than being compelled to buy cards, flowers, and chocolate (with the occasional lingerie thrown in) to show how much you love or like someone. If you don't give anything to your significant other, then you're a cheapwad etc, and if you don't get anything from your husband/bf/wife/gf whatever, then nobody loves you. Stupid. Period.

That said, my husband damn well better remember to buy me something nice, or at least remember to send me flowers that day (in case he reads this, I prefer something besides the flowers, they die in a couple days and then there's no point to em, waste of money). Or Else.
